Biometric Policy - Identity as a Service (TransUnion)
Updated on: February 20, 2026
Welcome to Identity-as-a-Service, offered by IDmission, LLC. (“IDmission,” “we,” “our,” or “us”). This Biometric Policy describes IDmission’s policies with respect to our processing of biometric information on behalf of our clients (“Clients”) that use our authentication service to verify and vet the identities and credentials of individuals (collectively, the “Services”).
By clicking “I consent” and accessing or using the Services, you signify that you have read, understood, and consent to be bound by this Biometric Policy and to the collection and use of your biometric information as set forth below.
IDmission uses an AI-based identity verification system designed to ensure the security and authenticity of users.
1. Biometric Information
IDmission collects facial biometric information through the Services only with your express consent. You are free to decline or revoke your consent at any time by emailing us at privacyteam@idmission.com. However, if you do so you will be unable to register and utilize the Services.
2. Facial Biometrics
If you enroll in the Services, you agree to use our facial biometric Services in which IDmission will collect an image of your face that you provide through a mobile app and a photo or scan of your face as it appears on an identification document.
IDmission uses facial recognition technology to ensure the image is of a live person (liveness detection) and then compares the biometric features of the live selfie against the photo on a government-issued ID.
3. Purpose and Intended Benefits
The primary purpose of this system is to prevent identity theft and fraud. By automating the verification process, we provide a faster, more secure onboarding experience for our customers while protecting against spoofing and identity misuse.
4. Management of Algorithmic Discrimination Risks
We are committed to preventing algorithmic discrimination through several mitigation measures:
Models are trained on diverse datasets to minimize bias related to race, ethnicity, or age.
Ongoing monitoring of system performance and accuracy across demographic groups.
Automated failures always have a path for human review to ensure fairness.
5. Disclosure of Biometric Information
IDmission may share facial scans with the IDmission Client through which you used our identity verification service. We do not sell, lease, trade or otherwise profit from biometric information.
6. Data Retention and Deletion
IDmission stores and protects biometric information using reasonable standards of care. Retention periods vary by usage:
- One-time check: Permanently deleted after 24 hours.
- Ongoing authentication: Deleted no later than 1 year after termination of the Client agreement.
- Early deletion: Performed promptly upon written instructions from a Client.
7. Notification of Changes to this Policy
IDmission may revise this Biometric Policy to reflect technological changes. New versions will be posted on our website home page and the IDentity Service website. Material changes will be accompanied by appropriate notice and updated consent where required by law.
8. Questions or Comments
